1.1 Welcome to America!

Its been a week here in the United States and the first impression does not match the America i had imagined to be... Having imagined Los Angeles as a shiny billboard city it turned out to be quite the opposite! Great! Welcome to America and expect the un-expected!  Why did i imagined it to be a billboard city ?! Am as clueless as you :)

I have been lucky am told! Why you ask ? No Jet Lag! Absolutely No Jet Lag!! I believe the trick is ( and of course i know this only by experience) not to sleep on the flight more than 4 hours. Also to stretch yourself for a little longer and sleep only when its night time here.. umnn.. hope it works the next time around as well ( for all you know.. i may be the lucky recipient of what they call " the beginners luck" )    I do not like flying. Flights sap me of all my energy. My prior experience of flying has been proof. Also, this flight into Los Angeles was my only second long haul flight. I had expected it to drain me off. I decided to take it all positvely(!!!).. What did i do?!  Mr Robert Pattinson and Mr Justin Long saved me along with Mr Jim Parsons! I saw movies after movies and when it was time for a hearty laugh Nobody could get better than Mr Parsons !!! Penny Penny Penny!! :D

So we land in Los Angeles and now its time for welcome to immigration. The queues i saw here were the longest i have ever seen in any city. My queue neighbours were Chinese, Japanese, few indeterminable languages and of course my fellow countrymen.  After an agonizing 45 minutes in the queue, we were greeted by Mr officer. We had successfully managed to miss out filling the customs form properly!! So back to the line! wow!! After that form filling and a friendly Q&A we were off to leave the airport only to realise we had 03 more booths to visit because the original Mr Officer forgot to stamp our custom's form! Mr husband says the officer was busy flirting with me - thats why ( i disagree)!  He never experienced any of this on his prior visits, humnph!!
We waited for about 15 minutes for our shuttle vehicle which brought us to Santa Barbara.. we were driven by a nice old fellow who was in a chatty mood and we found the information about routes around! The route to Santa Barbara is quite scenic.. about 50% of it borders the ocean.. it was bright, clear skies and a nice sunny day.  My first view of the Pacific ocean. The Mighty Pacific...

More Soon..

  5. You were not the first one to expect the unexpected. I felt exactly the same during my first visit to states. I had shared this with Tamara then :). Inspite of this i m sure you will be having lots of fun while u are there. By the way, how can our seasoned traveller not fill the customs form properly? Let me guess,.... I think he is super excited to have u with him on this trip. Enjoy!!!
